"Damned if you do, damned if you don't"

I lost my job almost two months ago.

I begrudgingly filed for unemployment because I am unable to find work.

After two months of waiting Unemployment has denied my claim because I am attending school and according to them 'unable to work a regular schedule in my chosen field'.

So basically because I am trying to better my self by obtaining a B.A and finding a career and not just a shitty job— which I am more than willing to work a shitty job around my school schedule, I am unable to receive unemployment compensation to help my family through this tough time. Now my family will suffer. We have no money and no prospects.

Thanks a lot state of Ohio...you can suck a fart out of my asshole.

My husband went through the same thing and although he isn't in school, we seem to feel since he's a union guy that they figure he'll get more work soon. Gotta love how the State of Ohio loves to stick it to ya!

Jessica- Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet, always nice to see new faces here...hell it's nice to see any faces anymore.
I guess Unemployment likes to save all the money for people who really need it, you know those who need to supplement their welfare and food stamps.
I'm not happy about the situation and they will hear all about it.

Sucks, man. I've struggled through some tough times myself and all I can tell you is that keep your head just a little above the water and you will make it through. Try tutor.com. I do that and you only need to be trying to obtain your degree to work there. I'm actually tutoring now. It's good for a little extra money.

TF- Thanks man, I will check that site out.

Aw, JQ that really sucks. It makes no sense. Why don't you try to appeal it! My friend was able to appeal her claim and she actually quit her job. They denied her because they said she could've worked something out with her boss rather than just quit but in her eyes she tried all that she could. They can't just tell you what to do; it's your life and not for nothing, you put money into unemployment and disability. Fuck them. Try again.

Also, did you ever consider serving or bartending at a bar or restaurant? I am waitressing now. I totally hate it but I make good money and it allows me to have the free time I need to work on my business. Just a thought.

Oh by the way, I say I hate waitressing because it is late nights and the people are irritating but it is nothing I cannot handle to make $150+ a shift. It is easy money if you have that personality which I think you do, based on your humor here. You don't strike me as a wallflower type of guy.

When the place I worked for cut me back to part-time, and then closed, I applied for unemployment - was denied, but I appealed and there was a hearing, and then I got it.

But I have heard that my state is denying more and more claims, because the money isn't there to pay out.

Naynayfazz- I really don't like people enough to be their servant. I could make fun of them....

Fantastagirl- Ohio is out of money as well, so that is most likely the reason I am not receiving compensation. This is the second appeal. Hopefully they will accept me this time. If not than I'm going down to the office and cracking some proverbial skulls.
